Indoor air quality: Owens Corning achieved GREENGUARD certification for many of its insulation products in 2003. OC was the first insulation company to achieve GREENGUARD Gold certification for many of its insulation products in 2006.
Recycled content: Owens Corning is a leader in recycled content for fiberglass insulation, ranging from a minimum of 53% to 73% in our Canadian-made products.
- Our North American residential fiberglass insulation is certified by SCS Global Services to contain at least 55% recycled content; our commercial and industrial insulation is certified to have a minimum of 53%.
- Our Thermafiber® Mineral Wool Insulation is manufactured to have a minimum of 70% recycled content and is validated by ICC-ES.
High-performance material transparency: In addition to Declare labels, EcoTouch® Insulation Unfaced and Unbounded Loosefill product lines achieved Living Product Imperative Certification – the first insulation products in the world to receive this rigorous multi-attribute certification.
Our FOAMULAR® XPS Insulation now uses a fire retardant that contains no hexabromocyclododecane (HBCD), earning a Cradle to Cradle Silver Material Health Certificate.
USDA’s BioPreferred® Program Catalog: The U.S. Department of Agriculture biobased labeling initiative is part of the U.S. Farm Bill to increase the purchase and use of biobased products made from renewable agricultural materials. EcoTouch® was the first fiberglass insulation to be certified and listed making it eligible for preferred federal purchasing. Our Thermafiber formaldehyde-free products were added in 2017.
